Guiding Principles

At Michael Kenwood we recognize the worth and dignity of each and every human being. We believe that every person, and in particular the smallest and most vulnerable among us, should have equal opportunities to survive, to grow and to succeed.

We believe that those who have received much in the way of opportunities and advantages must contribute towards the common good. We believe that we are called to serve.

We believe that a prosperous, peaceful society is made up of resourceful individuals who strive to improve their own prospects and those of their families and communities, in a spirit of fraternal solidarity and justice. That the best way to enable those individuals to develop is by ensuring that as children they, too, are sustained by a devoted family and a supportive community, receiving an example that they will aim to emulate as adults, when it is their turn to “make a difference”.

We believe that, though often invoked but less often fruitful, the desire to make a difference can be a powerful force for change if properly channeled. That we can harness that force, and the sense of responsibility and commitment it generates, to create a virtuous circle of expanding opportunities for every child.
